When you see an adult mistreat a child:

bulletStart a conversation with the adult to direct attention away from the child. For example, say:
bullet“She seems to be trying your patience.”
bullet“My child has gotten me upset like that, too.”
bullet“Is there anything I can do to help?”
bulletAvoid negative remarks or looks.
bulletDivert the child’s attention by talking to him or her.
bulletLook for an opportunity to praise the parent or child.
bulletIf the child is in danger, offer assistance.
